Not Working

Not Working

Emerge Weight Loss, Help! I’m still hungry.
I’m on the second week and it’s not working.

So, you’ve started your journey with us. You did the research, read the reviews, and finally pulled the trigger on ordering. This is no small step. And those anxious days of waiting for your order to come, well, those are some long days. I get it!

Once your order arrived, you opened the box, removed the vial from its packaging, and took out the syringes and swabs. Looking at everything before you, you readied yourself for that first injection. With anxiousness bubbling up inside, you couldn’t wait to push down that plunger and let the medication swirl through your body and take all your hunger away. This weight you’ve been carrying would drop faster than a cannonball from an airplane.

But wait, I still feel hungry. Okay, maybe it takes a little time. Week two rolls around, and you inject again. This can’t be right, you tell yourself. Why is everyone else losing weight? Why is no one else hungry? You race around the message boards looking for answers. Some blame this pharmacy or that. Others claim you need a higher dosage, and stat. “You need to titrate up!” they say.

This is a common story. It’s perfectly normal to inject and feel nothing or very little in that first week––even the second week––sometimes the third or fourth. You are not alone. It’s also very normal if the tirzepatide works on day two. In fact, there are so many cases of normal that I’d need a few more pages to list them all.

At Emerge, we see literally hundreds of new patients come through our doors each month. And this gives us a backstage pass to the wide range of different ways the medication affects each person. And it doesn’t matter your weight or height or gender, the medicine does react differently for each patient.

A couple things to remember: 2.5mg is what we call the “loading dose.” It is not meant to give you complete appetite suppression. It’s meant to prepare your system for the higher doses, where most people feel the greatest suppression and achieve amazing results. Do some patients get suppression at 2.5mg? Absolutely! And you might too. But many others don’t feel the effects until they move to 5.0mg, or even higher doses. It’s even common for patients to not feel the suppression until they’re well into their second month. What we’ve witnessed time and again is, for some, there seems to be a building (or a layering) of the medication that takes place over time.

So …

Yes, it’s perfectly normal to still feel hungry after your first, second, or third dose.

Yes, it’s also normal do get the suppression you’d hoped for a day after your first injection.

What I’ve witnessed from so many is that tirzepatide can have this ebb and flow effect. A patient might be on 5.0mg for eight weeks, then suddenly their hunger returns for a week before subsiding again. Instead of titrating up immediately upon feeling the hunger return, we always suggest that a patient continue with their current regimen and see if the hunger remains or subsides. And if you do need to titrate up, then we will do that for you.

Remember: Everyone is different! Your body will not act like others.

Remember: The Medication Is A Quick Fix, Not An Instant One.

Our team is always available for questions. We love that each person’s path is different, and we’re so happy to help guide you to a successful journey.
